    Two cent Nice gemmy coin!
At time of date run was cheaper than a Stamp
It's funny to read why 2 and 3 cents were made. Printing was the highest cost for usage.

The 1828 coin I bought was difficult enough to find. Trying to find any Classic Head Half Cents were next to impossible. I feel fortunate to have been able to buy this one. It is a nicer coin than my pics thanks for looking.

From the "Did you know ....." category. The two cent piece was first proposed in 1806 but took 58 more years before it was first minted in 1864?

I went to a store I usually don't go to and checked the non-Coinstar coin counter's chute. I pulled a handful of change out of there: a nickel and about ten pennies. I looked them over and I'll be damned if 3 of them weren't wheats: a 1936, a 1940-S and a 1941. The rest of the coins were zinc pennies and a ugly current design nickel so I left them on top of the machine. This makes 5 wheats that I've found in the last couple of weeks.

A succession of Mint Directors lobbied against the idea of a two cent piece, then during the Civil War the then Mint Director had a idea to create a two cent piece. Go figure!

Here's a new pickup for my type set of Hungarian coins from the Austro-Hungarian Empire (1867-1918).

This is a commemorative 5 korona silver piece (24g .900) marking the 40th anniversary of the coronation of Franz Joseph I. This is one of 300,000 minted at the Körmöcz-Bánya (KB) mint in 1907.

Although President Buchanan is not regarded as one our best presidents, the coinage was mighty fine!
