One of my pickups from the show today... Bought very cheap but i love the luster, strike and rim toning on this one... Supposedly graded by a company named imperial long ago... Not sure what time frame or what standards were back then but they gave it a 65... What say you?? CAM01887.jpg CAM01854.jpg CAM01861.jpg CAM01882.jpg CAM01883.jpg

Here's my ms 65 by NGC, I don't know anything about grading, but thought you would like this for comparison.

Nice pickup, I see a coin in MS64/65 condition.
The toning catches my eye, too.

Me too...It seems very close to a MS-65, especially when easily compared with Jared's post....But, as we all know, you get three grading services together on the same coin and you're lucky to get even two slabbed at exactly the same grade...

I paid $40 for the coin @ a show yesterday, bought a morgan in this same companies holder and id say its teetering around the same grade as this one... Posted in US coins forum... The flea market starts next weekend and i was gonna throw these in my showcase to re-sell but im falling in love w both of them... That means the price just went up on both lol:troll:

Your Peace $ looks like a 64 at best, but the discoloration along the rim bothers me.

Would you mind elaborating good sir?Everyone is skeptical of toned peace dollars myself included but looks ok to me
Just some billowing shades of blue, magenta and burnt orange :pompous:

No offense intended, but what I see in the photos looks more like greenish crud.

Its my fault then... Im too lazy to use my camera and then upload to laptop... So much easier and quicker on my phone...The coin actually has a nice color band almost to terminal stage but its really thin and up on the rim...

IMO you paid MS62 money and that's what you got. The coin posted by Jaredbd looks much nicer to me. At least in the photos.

Can't grade from your pics because I don't see any luster.

You have inspired me to break down and go get a couple desk lamps and bulbs... I buy toners mostly and they are near impossible to image w no light and a cell phone...I enjoy this site and seems my crappy photos make these threads almost pointless... While my coin isnt as nice as jareds i think he did a great job selecting that one...

Dude, aren't you being a little unfair to him? Eye appeal is the ANA's standard these days that determines the grade. He's telling you luster is one of the things he needs to see to figure out what the grade is according to that expert professional standard. He can't tell you what that grade is until he sees how eye appealing the coin is to him. If you make him try to guess how eye appealing it is to him without letting him see everything he heeds to see he might get the grade wrong. Believe it or not, even the TPGs from time to time get how eye appealing their coins are to them wrong, but at least they stand by their grades. If the coin was in fact more eye appealing to them, they'll reimburse you, guaranteed. At least the reputable ones will. And that's why it always pays to submit your coins only to those.

Ok how about this then, do YOU see any luster? He claims to see none at all,zip zilch zero...
And maybe i got a lil irritated because he said the same thing on the other coin i posted in US COINS forum...The problem i see is that not every coin has beaming luster like some philly morgans or nickels for example... And it wont show up in a photo cause its dull to begin with...

The ANA has educational courses taught by expert professionals that teach us what in a coin is eye appealing to us. That's the only way we know, we have to take one of the courses.

I get what your saying eddie i do... I wont buy a coin if it is lifeless... There are alot of weakly struck coins out there and luster is my go to when determining wear or weak strike... Luster adds to eye appeal but isnt a requirement for me as I prefer toned coins

You don't like anyone's opinion except your own. You ask opinions on a coin you post and go about telling everyone how wrong they are. A lot of the people that post on this site are very experienced. A little humility would be nice.
