I have in my collection all kinds of weird coins that I've collected through the years. A week or so ago I added another one to that pile. Having not dug around in there in quite awhile, yesterday I took some time to pull a couple out and photograph them. When I say took some time, that in itself is a great understatement, as I took and deleted well over a hundred photos. These are still low quality, but if you saw my setup, you would never believe that they could've turned out this good. The first is my most recent addition. A 2014 Virginia quarter that the incuse letters are trippled. The photos are poor but believe me it was the best that I could do. Like alot of coins that are shiny, my setup doesn't work well. All other devices, including the date between the lettering are normal. This is very hard to get in a photo but easily seen in hand. The second is a 2000 dime that I found several years ago. The One Dime on the reverse is clearly doubled. The third is my favorite and have had it for over 35 years. A 1972 Kennedy Half with clear doubling of the lips, nose, eye, and brow. It did an internet search for these three and tured up nothing. My intentions are to send them off for attribution and see what happens. If it's nothing, ohh well, they're still cool. I intented to upload more photos of each but am limited to 10 total.
The incuse devices on the quarter are machine doubled. They are reduced in size on the incuse doubled die dies. The machine doubled incuse devices are enlarged. (just opposite the raised hub/machine doubling) Here is a quarter I was looking at the other day:
GASP!!!! It would be horrible for it to turn out being a bad investment. The 2000 dime may be doubled, not sure about the rest.
Could be very true, but since I'm sending several in, the cost would be cheap for the lesson and decent photos.
And to throw away more on postage and opinion seems totally insane. As they say, if you know that you are crazy then you are probably not. I plead the fifth.
