    Oki, I saw your name on a couple but didn't bid on those. The three I won were Hadrians though :)

    Ugh. I've seen several dealers' web sites that say they won't ship to MN, but I primarily look at US coins, not ancients.

    I have no serious complaint about Clio's tactic. I do the same thing, although usually with a less robust bid.

    It would be interesting to know if I've ever outbid him. Since he and I bid in the final few seconds, there isn't enough time for the bidding software to display the sequence of events and bidder names. I suspect I have never outbid him in an e-auction.

    Hey TIF, I'm not always bang-on with some of my hunches, but I have a theory about your nemesis "Clio" ...

    Yah, I'm pretty sure that one of our CoinTalk pals occasionally gets a bit tired of scrimping and rummaging-through old junk-pails in an effort to add another bobble to his legendary, yet amazingly thrifty-hoard ...... yup, and I also think that this coin-friend of ours gets a bit irritated after a while watching you consistently and seemingly effortlessly produce winner after winner after winner after winner (I think that every now and then something snaps inside our coin-comrade and he goes berserk and lashes-out!!) ..... again, I may be wrong with my hunch, but I'm pretty sure that I have it all figured-out ...

    => CLIO is BING?!!!

    Wow man. You caught me little brother. Yeah, once in a while I just have to outbid everyone. He, he, he. When I have an extra $10, I just have to try to find TIF to see if I can take something from her grasp.

    And if u believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'll sell you. Sorry TIF it's not me. My computer crashed as you know, and I've been spending every spare moment trying to get things back. So far, I'm missing about half my coin images, but I think my catalog is up to date.

    Truth b known, steve is your Jekyll and Hyde. Thats what happens in the frozen North in winter. But he's more like Big Foot.

    All joking aside, this has been the worse crash I've ever experienced. I was able to reconstruct most, except my coin images. The last time I saved it to the cloud was about a year or so ago (I know, I'm a dummy).

    So, for those of you who may be wondering where I've been, I've been lurking once in a while, but mostly just trying to fix things back.

    BTW JA, that's about what happened I think (my computer in the trash bin)

    0 for 5 in today's Kuenker. All were book bids. One, the one I most wanted, was a fairly generous bid but I was still blown out of the water. All of my bids were far in excess of estimate, not that estimates are the end-all of predictions. There were a few on my watch list I didn't bid on that ended up selling for good prices. All in all, I'd say my theory (that the prices would be good due to lack of live internet bidding) was proven wrong.

    Yeah, when that happens to me, I just buy a damn coin. I've heard people use the expression "aggressive collecting" and that's me when I lose a bunch of auctions. I just go to vcoins and CLICK CLICK CLICK dammit. There! I've got a coin, razza frazza $&%*#,

    Huh, premature reporting of failure. I did win one, or so it appears from the hammer price. It's an upgrade for my Mussidius Longus denarius, Concordia/shrine of Venus Cloacina. Yay!

    I don't think so. Prices have in general been going up, although for any given individual coin there are other factors. Plus, the exchange rate has been favorable lately, at least for US buyers.

    I think hobbyist forums such as CoinTalk have as much to do with increased prices as anything else. We talk excitedly about our coins and draw new collectors to the hobby.

    So shut up, everyone! :D

    No one go near Hun or Eastern coins if you don't know what it then it's mine. Back, back, I'm warning you I have Ptolemy bronze and I know how to use it.
