1st off i hope these photos work for everyone.. i am green when it comes to photography etc... 2nd I apologize to everyone for being an arse in the last gtg... If anyone would like new photos then ask and ye shall recieve...coin club auction pickup from last night, grade and bid revealed tommorow.. Warning: very tricky! GL!!!
It looks clean enough but very tough to evaluate luster from your photos, coin is definitely not FB. I say MS66.
New photos showing luster better (hopefully) My 1st slabbed merc ever purchased.. still kicking myself for not buying the rainbow 45s i viewed @ a show.. They wanted $150 premium so i just couldnt pull the trigger... but it was still to this day the nicest merc ive seen...
Had a feeling someone would mention that... not a fan either... there more gold/magenta but im in total agreement... for the price tho i just couldnt pass as ill easily double my $ on this one..
I have seen a handful of Mercury Dimes with this type of toning pattern. While the toning is usually dark, it is not typically black. I assumed that the toning on your coin contained some colors that were not showing in your photos. The second group of photos show the luster better but I still say MS66.
I do not like that color, but I do not see a mark on that coin. It seems to have good luster. 67? If not, probably 66.
I'm with @messydesk in that I don't like the toning pattern, even if it's not actually black. But, I'm with everybody else that the surfaces look very clean. There seems to be something funny going on on the obverse right in front of the portrait and behind the neck, but that may just be the angle of the photo. I say 66*. The toning on top of the bands doesn't allow me to evaluate FB.
RLMs Cents.... congrats... you sir should submit your resume to anacs... Or start your own company... next time i see Larry Briggs ill ask if hes hiring... lol
BTW like u said there isnt a mark scratch ding gouge rub or otherwise on this coin.. its clean as a whistle... i believe its a 68 minus the weird patch on the cheek
Are you not concerned why you were able to get what you believe is an MS68 for MS66 money at auction?
No not one bit.... im gonna sell it for half the greysheet price next show.and double my $... atleast this time the wolf in sheeps clothing dealer will have a REAL excuse to beat my coin up b4 purchase.. (unlike the normal:its an anacs holder... i dont like the eye appeal... ive already got 10 1937s mercs etc etc etc)
