Meaning, do you do anything on the side to help fund your coin buying. During good weather from spring until first snow, I do scrap metal collecting around town and at the local landfill. I also pick up items at the landfill from their temporary holding shed that I think might sell on ebay. Last year I found a complete set of Boy Scout brass newspaper type with illustrations that I ended up getting $400.00 for. Found a sterling trimmed ashtray that I traded a coin dealer to for a Kookaburra. Also subscribed to sites like My Points, Send Earnings and Fusion Cash to get checks and gift certificates from occasionally. Wait until the local Habitat for Humanity has a 50% off sale to stock up on items to sell on ebay. What about you?
I kinda do the opposite. The money I make from speculating on moderns goes to funding other projects. My next "killing" on coins will go to a new propeller & propeller shaft for the boat – lake was low last season and hit some rocks.
As stated before I have a woodshop in my barn and my wife and her friends are into spinning wheels and all the accesories for spinning raw fibre into yarn to knit with (NOT knit wit!) - so I make pieces parts for their spinning wheels and make the accessories for probably 1/2 of what can be bought from the Internet!! And yep - as soon as I get a few "scoots" in my pocket off I go to keep filling the safe. Plus every now and then I'll build some patterns for a local foundry!! Antique lamp post base built from pine: Finished ready to go to the foundry - With this job I was able to get these 2 coins:
That's where my avatar came from. A trip out to Rose Island Lighthouse where I beached it on the rocks. No damage but I was taking a close up and was not watching. Just stalled it thank heavens.
I do whatever I can. Little odd jobs here and there. Not much on eBay anymore. I get a little from CRH'ing, but not much.
If the equipment were mine, the title of this would be......."Everything you wished you had, but didn't know how to operate." Nice set-up! Chris
The ones in Lake Erie by Cleveland do - they are always into them during the weekend - go figure - "at night and alcohol was a factor" - NO WAY!!!!
If you mean table saw this pic is all I got and I ain't going out to the barn - already 1 degree above 0 - Powermatic model 66 with sliding fence!!
I left my old job, moved to another state with a much lower cost of living, got a new job that pays much more and reduced my living expenses.
