Trajan Decius AR Antoninianus. 249-251 AD.

OBV: IMP C Q M TRAIANVS DECIVS AVG, Radiate, draped & cuirassed bust right.

REV: PANNONIAE, Twin Pannoniae, veiled, standing front, both looking left, each wearing robe reaching to feet and holding standard, both raising hand.

    REF: RIC 23

Valiant Knight told me he was selling some of his coins so I took a look and saw this very nice Trajan Decius. Just had to have it. This is his photo in the cardboard flip. I haven't had a chance to reshoot a photo. This brings me up to 92 Roman Imperial rulers.

The hitch-hikers. Very nice. Why is VK selling off his Ancients? Hopefully he's keeping on with the hobby.

    Very nice coins, Bing.

I think he's selling a few of his coins to get some others. He ain't quitting as far as I know. Here are a few that he has left to sell.

Very nice Syrian Tetradrachm. I've been wanting one of those but they are usually too expensive for me.

'Tis true, right now I need to sacrifice some victims so that others may find their way to the wondrous world that is my collection. And I have a few left as indicated in the link, so if you all will please form a single line...

I probably wouldn't have parted with it if the reverse was stronger, but nonetheless it is still a very nice coin especially in hand, and I'm glad to see it go to a coin-friend (I'd rather it be that way for any coin that I happen to sell).

    Here's my contribution.

One has to love the history:

Always good to review that murky Third Century.

Chalk up one for the Goths (at the Battle of Arbritus).

Decius was an 'interesting' looking man (like Galba and Nerva). His portraits vary a lot but one of my favorites is a fourree.

Another is silver but may not be the common mint. Is it official?

Trajan Decius definitely has a lot of nice looking coin issues. I like the ones all you guys posted.

Other than the coin you posted, I don't recall seeing a fouree before for Trajan Decius.
