    am I the only one who thinks that coins of Elizabeth 1 are a bit special---great designs and a fantastic period of history--ELIZABETH D.G. ANGLR ET HI REGINA- show a sixpence 1572 mint mark ermine --can we see some more please

    Obverse: Crowned bust of Elizabeth facing left with a rose behind her head
    ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HI REGINA followed by a downward arrow mintmark (Tower Mint)
    (Elizabeth by the Grace of God, England, France and Ireland, Queen)
    Reverse: Shield with arms (lions and fleurs-de-lis) and long cross behind
    POSVI DEV ADIVTOREM MEV (I have made God my Helper)
    Size: 27mm Weight: 2.75gm

    If someone can find the actual sixpence that her pirate Francis Drake left in Northern California in 1579...

    Tower mint with castle mintmark.

    All the coins above are lovely. I wonder how many of you also research the issues that surround QE1 in the year of the coin. Her life was pretty well documented.
