Just got word of this and I am going to have to get them both. http://www.numismaticnews.net/artic...y-star-trek-coins?et_mid=724960&rid=247751549
I'm not a Trekie, but I have seen all the original shows and many of the newer ones. I really enjoyed the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. I have gone through it several times. I'm a chip collector and kept a special chip from the unique casino they had integrated into their "experience". But what would stop be from buying this coin is the colorization. I personally wouldn't buy any commemorative that had been made this way, regardless of it's theme. As ken454 said "gotta pass". Too bad. :>(
Yeah, I felt the same way about the Doctor Who coins last year. Just too much premium for these to be worth it. Gotta pass.
There are a LOT of choices. Research before you buy! Some are still available mint-direct: Perth Mint Royal Canadian Mint Some coins sold-out quickly and are now only available in the aftermarket. A few big dealers carry 'em. Apmex, JMBullion, SDBullion. I've bought from all 3, no problems. And others too, so shop around. Or you can venture into the ebay minefield. Some are widely available, like this 1oz silver bullion (I ordered one): http://www.apmex.com/product/100955/2016-tuvalu-1-oz-silver-star-trek-original-u-s-s-enterprise-bu Next on my buy list is the recently-released 1oz silver Delta Proof coin: http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalog...h-anniversary-2016-1oz-silver-delta-coin.aspx
