It's Canadian so it would actually be called a TAILLER.. that's French for clip off, closest definition I could get
You would see maybe a Blakesley Effect opposite of the clip in question. But since it's only a slight clip maybe not as pronounced.. Sorry if you click on that link it takes you to a Malaysian website about error coins. Interesting though.
Lol, I looked up Tailler and found french websites on clipping hedges, it appears that the literal translation has nothing to do with coins.
Does say this.. "However, the "Blakesley effect" sometime does not appear on curved clip error coin, most probably due to the curved clip was too small, so collectors must learn to recognize other diagnostics of a genuine curved clip error coin"
Thanks for the info, It makes sense that a minor clip will not have much of an effect, I have another potential clip, I will have to check it.
The "belly line" on the edge is another diagnostic, as is the way the rim tapers down toward the clip. Both are present on your coin so I say legit.
Thanks guys. Pretty happy that it is not PMD. What about this? I have another tiny tiny clip on a 1931 Farthing but it is like 1% maybe less. So I'm guessing it is not worth posting for it is almost noticeable in the photos.
I got each coin for 25 cents, the Canada cent was for face along with 250 others. Found in a machine rolled box of pennies for some weird reason
