    Hey guys.

Made a couple of spontaneous purchases this weekend and was just wondering what I bought and what the estimated value might be.

    Here's the first one:

    Second one

I know NOTHING about these coins. Just thought the details I could see were interesting and somewhat easily visible.

    Help me please

The first is suppose to be Constans with a Gloria Exercitvs reverse, two soldiers with standard between. But that is the weirdest looking portrait of Constans I've seen. What a stretched out nose. Constantinople mintmark.

The second is a fallen horseman type I think belonging to Constantius II, mintmark from Thessalonica

    Thanks. Anything scarce or valuable?

No, just the opposite. Both very common (except that Constans portrait). Coins of this nature and in this condition can be bought for just a couple of bucks at any show.

The Constans mintmark is also odd showing officina IH for IA. I would not be shocked if both were modern casts but the reason for making coins this common is hard to understand. I suppose the oddities could be from cleaning damage.

But you have to love the reverse inscription on your second coin, FEL TEMP REPARATIO which loosely translated means 'Happy days are here again' indicating that the last Barbarian has been slain and the Roman Empire was at peace.
Unfortunately neither coin is worth a fortune. I hope you did not pay more than $5 each.
