It isn't very often that I get the chance to buy something that is completely unique especially if it is coin related. But a few years ago I came across this pair of cuff links in a proxibid auction. Two bust dimes paired with two seated half dimes on a hinge to make a pair of silver cuff links. They are pretty darn cool if you ask me. And yes I lament the use of a VF/XF 1821 dime and the heat damage caused to it by soldering the link in place, but who knew a hundred or so years ago.
Very cool! I have a few sets of pop-out cuff links in my collection... Of course, I also have pop-out necklaces, earrings, bracelets, pins and much more...
Oh my - beautiful coins today - BUT who woulda thunk ruining them back in the day that collectors would "cringe" now a days!! I have a gold plated buff turned into a ring that I got when I was 16 - and it had a readable date!
I wouldn't Exactly!!! Coin jewelry is (or can be) extremely beautiful and in many cases, more expensive than the coins before they were made into jewelry or art!
Beautiful, historic, unique, all yes....more expensive...I would say in extreme cases because these links weren't even priced at a fraction of what the loose coins would have been worth had they not been included in the set.
