Hello everyone.....I've selected a very small amount of LC'S that I "think" could be possible DD'S..... I need your help so I can get a better understanding of what DD'S, MD'S, and my favorite PMD'S look like Your thoughts are much appreciated! Thanks in advance!! "I am adding more photos" I have reached the max for this thread they will continue in order" Dani
Have you, perchance, spent any time on Mr. Wexler's site (doubleddie.com) learning of the different types of doubling and how to recognize them? If not, it's a great site that could be a great help to you.
All done! I can't wait to see the replies in the morning! @BooksB4Coins no I have not.....but I will start....Ty for the recommendation
Have you tried matching anything on coppercoins.com? http://coppercoins.com/advsearch.php Good God, I clicked on every picture...no I don't see anything. Next time, do yourself (and us) a favor and check the references before you post everything
Danielle, Without knowing specifically what you are seeing one each coin, I can say that I don't see anything. Any apparent doubling that I do see is either die deterioration or well placed contact marks and/or damaged from circulation. Don't give up though! They are out there. Jody
sorry danielle i see nothing there as well, when searching cents i always keep coppercoins and doubleddie sites open to check anything i suspect as a doubled die, if i cant find it there then i figure chances are that its not what i suspected.. for example, here is a 1972 ddo #7 cent i recently found that i matched up on coppercoins and on douldeddie, not only did the date and motto match up but also the pics of the die markers, which is an important part of identifying dd's.. (assuming they are not worn off)...this was an easy one as the spread in the letters was easily noticeable and not flat and shelf like as in md...for me so far 1971 and 1972 have been the easiest to find, so dont give up they are still out there...
Danielle, you would be doing yourself a HUGE favor if you would limit each thread to one or two coins each rather than 50-60. That way, you could explain what you think you see. The mere act of dumping this many photos in one thread is a waste of time. Chris
I clicked the pics, studied them as best as I could, and did not see anything either--sorry Danielle, keep looking! Doubled dies on US coins are tough to spot--you will find more on world coins if you look. Note: I did not say "you wasted my time" because a) I looked at your photos at my leisure, b) and I give my opinions freely--for what they're worth, and c) I think it's rather rude to scold people asking questions.
You know Chris you could do us all a favor by not dumping on a YN ! She has come here looking to learn not be put down by a Sarcastic member. For someone whom thinks the replying to her thread is a waste of time it sure seems you got a lot to say about nothing! As to the original poster there are no dumb questions. Know that there are plenty of collectors here to answer and, advise you. Feel free to post what ever.... as errors and varieties are out there. Never give up the hunt!
Sure, Paddy! You can tell by other responses that there is a lot of interest. Did you note the referrals to other sites? What is your opinion on the 7th, 13th, 20th, 25th, 31st 42nd & 50th photos? How about posting your comments all at once. If you think my last two sentences were intended to be sarcastic, you're right! Toward you! But, nowhere in my previous post was I being sarcastic toward Danielle. Reread my comments, Paddy. I never said she was wasting my time. I said it would be a waste of time (for her) posting that many photos all at once. Chris
For one thing, there weren't 50-60 coins here; there were 10. I typically search hundreds each night, so I certainly didn't mind looking at 10. As Kurt said, I did it at my leisure and I enjoyed it. I wish I could have given Danielle better news, but she has an admirable enthusiasm that is critical to all variety searchers, and soon she'll be one of the experts who is helping us to answer such questions on this forum. She's already demonstrated a desire and an ability to learn. Of course that is contingent on her sticking around after being berated by people who would be better advised to remain silent if this type of thread annoys them. I hope Danielle realizes that there are those of us here who enjoy the search as much as she does, and that we are more than willing to help her in her search. I'm sure she realized that these were all questionable and that is probably why she chose to post them all at once rather than devote an entire thread to each one.
No I'll do ,as most do here.... dealing with know it all's . ..give ya an iggy. As I much rather look at photos of MD then read your Sarcastic remarks.
