I have been wanting an 1800's proof for a few years now but the timing was never right. Walked into the coin shop today and this was there and the price was good. Sorry my photos aren't the greatest and the line under the third roman numeral is a piece of dust. Also can anybody tell be about Judd 676? I can't find any information on what exactly it is.

What Judd 676 is is much more cash in your pocket if accurate. Is the coin graded? If so post a pic of the whole slab both sides

As for relative value see below

    This is normal proof

This if Judd 676. Please take note of the higher prices for the same grade coin. Much higher

It's a beautiful coin, but I wonder if it could benefit from some conservation. Would an acetone treatment clear up some of the haze in general, and the spotting on the chin? The reason I ask is because of LostDutchman's recent thread where he conserved a proof with astonishing results.

I don't understand the reference to Judd 676. Judd 676 has plain columns, as opposed to ribbed. This is a normal three-cent proof.

It's a great coin and I think undergraded!

The 3 cent nickels are quite reasonable in proof . Nice coin and I agree with the grade .

Judd 676 is a pattern, very much like one VegasVic recently posted. Your 1869 3C is a proof of a production coin.
    Very nice coin, though!

Thanks guys. Eventually it will be put into NGC plastic. I'm thinking And hoping it will receive the same grade from them. But for $350, i just couldn't say no.

J-676 is also struck in pure nickel so it would be magnetic too.

I just got the NGC grade, pf 66 cameo. I have to admit I was just hoping it would keep its 64 Anacs gave it.

Holy cow... I wouldn't be able to open my wallet up fast enough for that price. Nice purchase!

Where did you get it, if you don't mind my asking?

This coin is on my wishlist! (along with, oh, a lot of others, but it's near the top!)

*Very* jealous. My local coin shops never get nice stuff like that. Congrats!
