Looks cast? He has three complaints of fakes.

If nothing else works, buy his coins! Claim item not as described when you get them (they are fake, so no problem there!), make him go through the refund process, then slap him with a negative. It is already starting to hurt his feedback. A few more and maybe buyers will use more caution.

Yuck, those are so bad! How can people look at that and think "hmmmmm.... A superb specimen I do say!"

To be fair, if you are not super familiar with a certain coin, they might pass for real. I buy lots of gold, so the gold to me looks so bad it is funny. Some of the others ones, I can tell something looks off, but it is harder to be 100% sure since I do not specialize in them. I suspect almost every coin he sells is fake though, after looking at his past sells, feedback, etc. I am seriously thinking about buying a few to slam him on feedback. Plus, I think everyone should message him and pressure him to stop.

Buyers need to better train themselves for the large influx of fakes that have been introduced from China over the last 10 years. Here is the link to a 1926S Buffalo that was sold by the seller in question for $490: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1926-S-5C-Buffalo-Nickel-full-horn-no-problem-U-grade-/400846174865.

The buyer says, "counterfeit piece of garbage." If you look at the picture of the reverse you can see a split in the rim (which is most apparent around 4-5 o'clock). That stood out to me right away as it is a tell-tale sign of being a recently made counterfeit coin from China.

Here is one of the seller's active listings: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1920-50c-MA...DOLLAR-lovely-toning-from-estate/400857177677.

The obverse of the coin initially looks convincing to me. However, upon looking at the reverse I can see the tell-tale rim split all the way from around 12 to almost 3 o'clock. In fact, rim split aside, the general appearance of the reverse looks like a Chinese-made counterfeit and was likely originally sold as a "replica" from abroad for $1.50-$2.00.

I reported that ripoff idiot but what gets me is ebay's reporting system, it sucks!! Why don't they have fake or counterfeit as a choice? bugs me to no end!! bang.gif

I haven't even bothered to look at the listing, but if you are so convinced that it is a counterfeit, why bother reporting the seller to FleaBay? Report him to the Feds!

They do, you just have to search for it. Click on "report item", then "prohibited and restricted items", then "stamps, currency, and coins", then "replica coins...". Everyone that reads this should go report all his coins.

"The Collectible Coin Protection Act strengthens the original Hobby Protection Act by now making the sale of unmarked replica coins illegal and also expanding the scope to include any person who provides substantial assistance or support to any manufacturer, importer, or seller if that person knows or should have known that the manufacturer, importer, or seller is engaged in activity that violates the act."

Although ebay always says it is just a venue, there are two facts I think could impact it in regards to this new law. 1) ebay will
"know" about the seller being engaged in activity that violates the act when either ebay pulls it because they monitored it or you/others notify them. 2) ebay actually profits from the sale and shipping of these items once sold, and possibly before if there are listing fees applied or upgrades.

    So keep reporting to ebay.

Reporting to ebay seems to have been quite effective lately, especially when something is posted on here and many of us report it, the more the better.

That opens up a big can of worms Chris. I found that out when I went report a person for contaminating the underground water supply with oil, hydraulic fluid and much more. I had to identify myself and file a formal complaint with name, address and a whole lot more. It would have put me in a situation of retribution. I would not want anyone to be in that position or get their house burned down for it. The farther away I am from the Feds the better. IMHO.

Went ahead and reported the listings also. Unfortunately there seems to be a mass influx of counterfeits being offered on Ebay lately. Feel bad for all the people who post good feedback probably not realizing they got a fake coin until they try to sell it that is.

Even as a seller, I do not leave a feedback until I receive one. Once left it cannot be removed, although you can leave a follow up to your original.

For years I have been looking for an official release of the campy Batman TV series on DVD but to date none has been released. I once reported 25 listings from the same seller selling "Official" Batman series on DVD that he was taping off the television. Don't know if it did any good but I sure felt better.
