This is in a holder already, graded. What do you believe it would grade at the two top TPGs (poll - you can select up to two answers, up to four days from the thread start time)? And why or why not is that what it should grade? If it's not what you think it should grade, what grade would you give it? If the choice you select is not in the poll, please put what believe it would grade in a comment. Thanks!

I've included three views of each side.

I was tempted to grade the coin MS67 by NGC but between the toning and lack of lighting in photos, I think I might be missing some minor marks. I say MS66 by both TPGs.

That is the kind of look that NGC loved to give MS67 to bank in the day.

I'de go NGC MS66 - too much going on in the surfaces of the coin and weak breast feathers.

I think that coin has a planchet problem most notably on George's neck. I don't think they would go any higher than 65.

NGC calls it a 66, then PCGS, because they are looser with Washington Quarters IMO call it a 67.

So far, it seems to be 'winning' that NGC might call this a 66 or 67. Once this is done with the polling I will show the grade and service that slabbed this puppy. Then the debate will be do I try to take better photos of the coin in the current slab, or do I break it free and show photos of it raw to determine if it 1) stays free or 2) gets sent sometime to one of those two top TPGs.

Please keep in mind that while I wrote that NGC used to love that look for MS67 WQs that the era for that type of grading was in the early and mid-1990s. Personally, I do not care for the look of the coin and do not think either PCGS or NGC would reward the coin today.

I value that coin at MS-65, no matter what the number on the slab may say. The fingerprints automatically limit the value of that coin for me (although, not many share my opinion).

MS66. I love the lavenderwinkle toning.

I think 66. Color might really pop under good light.

Here is the reveal.... purchased it with the idea it might be graded more accurately 4 points below this.

I am thinking I may just have my first crack out on this one. The slab doesn't seem to be doing it much good. What say everyone?

I think that as a raw coin or in the current holder it will achieve MS65 money at best and I hope you didn't pay more than $25 for it. The NGC retail price guide for MS66 & MS67 is $47.50 & $145 respectively. You have to weigh your upside and downside potential when deciding to submit. If it comes back MS65, you lose the price of the grading fee & S&H ($25). If it comes back MS66, you basically break even. And if it comes back MS67, you make $100. All this assumes that you paid MS65 money for the coin and that you plan to sell the coin after you get it back from the TPG.

Another thing to consider is that the TPGs have a 5 coin minimum, so unless you have other coins to submit or are piggy backing on someone else's submission you still have that obstacle. Personally, I wouldn't submit it unless you are planning to sell it. If planning to sell it, I think it is worth the risk because the upside is greater than the downside.
