If this shows up as a double reply - I apologize. I replied once and it just disappeared into the ether. Anyway, Heritage is going to re-slab them for me, so as soon as this post goes thru I'm off to the post office. With my coins. In a BOX.

They were very quick to reply and very professional. I just have to wait four weeks to get them back. Although the slabs are toast the coins themselves seem just fine.

Here's the other - no sign of impact damage that I can see. Just a nice crack. I swear I didn't select "pre-crackout service" as mentioned above. ;-)

I had little doubt that Heritage would step up and pay for reholdering. Everyone I've ever spoken to there has always been very professional.

    Nice 1758 8R, too!

Of course, but they still should have just used a box. The slab is not packaging for the coin, it is part of the product. It is fragile and not weight bearing in any way, and if it breaks it can damage the coin. Mailing a slab in a soft mailer regardless of the time of the year is totally inappropriate, and if a slab reaches a buyer undamaged when mailed that way it is only by luck.

I used to work with Fedex and UPS carriers. You would be surprised by the way they handle packages. They like to play with fragile and insured packages by karate chopping them, using them as punching bags and the such. Not surprised the slabs are cracked.

Not true. There are security cameras everywhere. If caught doing that you are immediately fired at either company.

Your terribly wrong accusations would however be true at USPS. Government employees are the worst.

Well I saw it with my own eyes no cameras needed. One employee even punched a box in the company I used to work for marked fragile. his response? I don't care, I guess the union protects them well.
