It's not a proof. They simply weren't made in San Francisco that year.

    Branch Mint Proof Coinage

It's still a remarkable find from circulation.

Right you are furryfrog02. I just checked NGC coin facts as well. Thanks for the lesson! I really don't know this series all that well, aside from filling my whitman folder...Jeffies might be fun after all.

My girlfriend and I got a box of nickels over the weekend. There were 2 silvers in the box, including a 1945-D, which filled a hole in my collection. Only 11 Jefferson nickels to go!

Well, that was just about the best pile of pennies I've ever gone through...

$20 CWR/BWR nickels: 1939 (great condition), 1940, bunch of Canadians

    $10 CWR pennies:
    212 wheats (11 pre-1940: 1918-D, 1927, 1929, 1934, 2x1936, 2x1937, 2x1938, 1939) + 1 1943 steelie (first ever found in circulation)

742 total (US) coppers (out of 1,000 coins searched)

    Canadians: 13 (oldest 1942)

possible 1992 close AM? Take a look at the photos. Coin on the right is the suspect. The A & the M don't touch, but they appear a lot closer than the coin on the left. Also, the "FG" initials look different. Thoughts?

I hate to tell you this but that's not a close AM. if it is one thing I know 100% it is close and wide AM's. when verifying its all about the initials FG when I describe it to people its simple if it is a close AM the initials will be further away from the build and if it is a WIDE AM the initials FG will be closer almost touching the building. I tell myself when looking for them, CLOSE far, WIDE close. You can see the difference in yours to a verified CLOSE AM. Here is a little info on how rare the 1992p-1992d are.so far, there are only about 5 examples of the 1992-P Close AM Lincoln Cents known, making it truly scarce. And there are also only about 15 known 1992-D Close AM. Got that from the pcgs website. If it was real your looking at a $15,000 and up value. Hope this helped

Wouldn't let me post the other pic but here is a link to a picture that helps explain the difference http://www.usacoinbook.com/us-coins/wide-am-vs-close-am-lincoln-memorial-cent.jpg

Where I work, we deal with incidental amounts of change, and yesterday I found 5 wheats: 1951 D, 1952 D, 53, 56 D and 57 D, also 3 nickels, 1939, 47 D and 49. My guess is that someone cleaned out their coin drawer. None really too spectacular, but fun to find nonetheless.

That did help, thanks. Once it was magnified I wasn't so sure, but the coloring on that penny made it appear a bit different than all the common Wide AM's. Had no idea they were so scarce - doesn't mean I'll stop looking though!

    Two boxes halves: 5-40% (4-1967, 1-1968); two proofs (1973, 1989).

Went back to a branch that sold me $10 in halves a week or two ago. There had been 2 40%'s in that bunch, so I called the branch to ask if they had more. Teller said she had $28 worth, but they were pretty grungy so I might not want them. She was right about the grungy, but 17 of them were 40%'ers.

I was fixing to post my findings when I saw your list very nice bunch of cents. I would love to find one with a pig I have never even seen that one until today. It's always cool to find foreign cents I my opinion.

Keep looking. Those Bermudas are out there. I get a lot of them along with Bahamas and Panama.
