This is my current 1921, and I do also have a 21 D and S, but they're just ordinary MS 65s. This one did command a premium for the toning, but was still reasonable, as that date is so common. Don't expect anything special from 1921, unless one gets into the very high grade (MS 67 or 68), and accept a pretty coin as a pretty coin.

Very nice coin, I still need an MS-65 Morgan. I needed a 1921 for my Morgan dollar collection and the only one my dealer has was AU-58, I decided to buy it anyways though.

Thats what i was saying... its RARE in PL... hes saying its.COMMON in PL.... ill check pop.report tonight and see definitively if its.common or.rare in PL... that was the debate.. it has a sky high mintage.as these.werr rushed into production but QC was the.least.of.their worries hence alot.of.ugly coins amd not many nice lustrous reflextive ones... theres a premium here either way.,,ill learn not.to show my coims.n 3 different lights one.of.these days so there its not as hard to see

36 graded in PL by PCGS. I'm just not thinking it PL based on the current photos but the new ones may change my opinion

Here's what I'm pretty sure I know about 1921 Morgans. They are not rare at all. That's an absolute statement about total mintage and surviving population. However, that's just one way to look at it.

All 1921's can be rare, but it depends on what kind of rarity you're talking about. Specifically, 1921-Ds are conditionally rare in Superb GEM grades. They are also somewhat rare in true proof-like condition and really RARE in DMPL condition.

Considering the big mintage there are plenty of great VAMs to collect too.

Here are some of many from VAMworld's Hot 50 Morgan VAMs

I agree with that, 1921d is 50x rarer than 1881s in PL.

The 1921 Morgans are so common that most people just don't worry about it. They get nice looking, affordable 65s, or 66s, to fill out their collections. Those coins are not expensive.

True proof like 21-d Morgans are hard to come by, this much is true. As far as the original coin in this thread is concerned though, it doesn't have to worry about bringing up the population report because it is not a proof-like. It does show some PL qualities and is a nice coin, but would never receive the designation from any service that counts.
