Got this in the mail today when I came home :D but it looks like it's an over strike, or maybe double struck?

It's a nice coin, AE2? I don't see anything that suggests an overstrike or a double strike - to what are you referring?

I agree with JA. But it's a nice FH for sure.

It's and AE2. Look at letters "TAN" of the Obv. It looks like there are letters behind those, smaller ones. With out cleaning it, that's all I see though. Not sure what they are, maybe just a sloppy die cutter :D

I see what looks like a double "T", so perhaps you are correct or it could be a double hammer strike?

The fallen horseman has fallen far away with his horse. That's all...

Does the horse have an awesome tattoo on its haunch?

Found a obv. die match with mine for sale (but too expensive ;_;)

It's tempting when you find a die match, isn't it? No matter the price, it's still tempting.

I've had similar experiences: looking through dealer inventories and I say, "Man, that coin looks familiar..." Found a couple die matches that way, but I was never compelled enough to buy them just for the sake of the matches.

    chrsmat71 I LIKE TURTLES!

that's the first thing i noticed...what is that? i thought it was an understrike part, but then not sure. my next thought was barding...but accoriding wikipeida, that didn't come in to the middle ages. i have seen animals with a caparison (cloth covering) on older coins, could it be that?

very interesting coin at any rate RG.
