Is it cheaper to get supplies like 2x2's, loops, ect. at a coin show or should i just go online to order like whitman or amazon ? Ill be at a show this coming weekend. I know amazon has supplies but is a tad cost more. I do not have any local shops other than just 1 about a 35 min drive away. So what do you think is the best option?
This is a good place to check but look at the shipping cost. https://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/products/coin-flips/
The more important thing is what not to buy like soft flips and magic potions to improve the appearance of coins. Look for the words Polyethylene Terephthalate for plastic flips. They are the flips collectors call "Mylar." But you should not see "Mylar" on the package because it not a material but a product name associated with the auto and aircraft insustry.
I've found them cheaper at a coin show than anywhere else, but who knows if your coin show will have them and if they'll be cheap.
My little girl is a book hound and I took her to the local Books-A-Million store a while back. While she searched out her books I hunted down coin books and was pleasantly surprised to find quite a nice assortment of very affordable numismatic supplies along with the books. I been getting my 2X2’s from there ever since.
If you know what you want, look online a couple days before before you go to the show and see what prices are. Then, go to the show and check there. If it's cheaper at the show buy there. If it isn't, or they don't have it at the show, buy it online when you get home that night.
I agree 100%! Your purchase might be the deciding sale that brings that vendor back the following year. You can always buy online what was not available at the show afterwards.
