Just wanted to let everyone know there has been a massive flood of fake IHCs on eBay lately. For example, each of the 15 auctions by this seller are fake coins. http://www.ebay.com/sch/jerr.mccar/...ns_US_Individual&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
Man those are uuuuuuugly! I wouldn't buy them even if they were real Seriously people. Just take a look at the dates, fat and sloppy.
They are obviously fake. All have the same scratch on the chin neck and die crack over the I in America.
Holey Moley - So many "suckers" for so many FAKE coins from China!! Gotta feel sorry for the uninformed but can't tell them cause they always seem to know more than an experienced collector!!
Reported each of them. Every once in a while eBay still knocks down auctions for fakes. With these ending so soon, though, the odds are heavily in the seller's favor.
FYI buying raw coins off of ebay is like having sex without a condom with a prostitute that has Vd or aids , Yea you are bound to catch something bad first off let me apologize to the admins or anyone that gets offended by this post, but it's the truth no matter which way you put it and I'm trying to keep it pg-13
investing in coins is it calculated process, I would suggest you do not buy raw points off of ebay. Unless you can physically test the items yourself.
I look at the things that wre bought or sold in the feedback section and who the buyers were. Most always the iteams have been removed and the buyers are the same ones that you see selling fakes elsewhere. Same clan.
That's just because they finished. They still show up in the seller's completed/sold auctions, along with an array of other obvious fakes. He's got a good thing going; he's made close to two grand off these since November. Dismantling that Coin Community Watch Group is working out great for eBay! Think of all the revenue they'd have left on the table if they'd shut down this guy in November.
And yet they still are laying people off and loosing money..... Just shows a poor business model I guess.
It appears that these fakes are being sold to legitimate dealers who list them on eBay, too. I'm starting to wonder if eBay will lose its credibility or if people will continue to spend thousands of dollars on fake IHCs each day. Selling counterfeit rare coins on the internet seems to me to be a serious issue. As in a federal offense. The media industry is focused on shutting down peer-to-peer file transfer networks to protect their copyrights, yet the US government seems to do nothing about the networks that perpetrate their copyrights to classic US currency. In fact, it seems eBay has now become a safe-haven for a black market of counterfeit coins. You should have seen what someone spent on an 1878 Shallow-N a while back. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1868-Indian...601?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19fb064181
Be careful ebay had an article on yahoo saying reporting to many sellers can get you banned for harassment..just a heads up
Wow, eBay will ban you if you report too many scammers selling counterfeit currency? To what has this world come? Why don't we all just start selling counterfeit coins, too, and just have them drop shipped from china (sarcasm implied). http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1868-Indian-Head-Small-Cents-FREE-SHIPPING/1747040204.html
report on cnbc last night china is looking into ways of stopping the counterfeits on Alibaba lol what a joke
Well at least this guy puts the word COPY in the description on some of them. Better than most ebay dealers.
