Guess a Couple of Names

    I found it difficult to assert the names of the Emperors on these 2 Roman coins. The first is definitely raw and sandy. The second shows clearly at hand the letters R A N T on the obverse starting from up in the middle clockwise. Of course I'm just asking you to guess? Thank you..     i believe the first is valentinian...and the second caracalla.

    I agree that coin #1 is Valentinian I.

    I would never wish to disagree with Chris, (I haven't got his knowledge), but (for coin #2) have you considered Elagabalus BMC 430/433/434/435/438 Antioch mint Syria (on Wildwinds)? Not the same but similar?

    Sorry, thought you were someone from another forum. One of his favorite emperors is Mag Max and is your exact age (saw it on your profile).

    Thanks a lot to all of you. The second coin is more likely to be of Caracalla, the Emperor with many faces and names. Antioch ad Orontem- BMC 354 var(bust type). Mac Alee 696. But my coin weighs 6.32 g. instead of 5 g. as listed there. It might be a different denomination.
