Id say struck out. Toning does not look market acceptable.

Yeah - I'de say toning is "TOO MUCH". And if it's too good to be true it usually isn't

Interesting: Excessive Blue/Magenta/Purple/Burnt Orange hues in billowing shades that do not gradient evenly. This is created by heating nickel or by adding a sulfurous compound to the surface. You can recreate this by crushing up the yolk of a boiled egg and keeping it in a container with the coin for less than 30 minutes.

Oh, and there are AT coins in all the major tpg holders. They are human after all.

Thanx for actually backing up your opinion w facts marcus... ive actually been to that site quite a bit.. you are right but i think THIS toning is actually lighter and more pastel than what they are describing... i cant argue tho.... i.dont have it.in hand to make a debate.out.of.it.... ill look for pullback/elevation chromatics when i see it.in person

I think the toning is suspect. I also agree with bkozak: AT coins are in big 2 slabs. I think NGC has become much more conservative on toning, but I'm seeing more and more questionable toning in PCGS holders, specifically, ASE's.

I don't like it. Toning is blotchy and looks unnatural, especially for a Peace dollar.

I think the toning looks questionable; never seen anything like that before.

I think.u.r.correct jp... ive been seeing alot of eagles lately selling for ridiculous $... i hope this new trend doesnt invite more and more coin doctors into our hobby... as most of my collection consists of toners and people might stay away from toning altogether if it keeps up

Yea ive seen wild tones/patterns/colors b4... very good point..ive seen these same exact colors actually....there are alot of variables that play into toning... we all know that... im not gonna write this coin off yet... if.you look at the 1other pic of the obverse(not provided) the colors look more pastel and it actually has a more golden russet hue

Oh and 1 other thing: the colors are atleast in the right order... on the johnny cash website they show the king snake as a good comparison for this....russet>purple>blue>yellow>magenta>emerald green

Even if it is real $180 is still a little too much but I do not know much about toned coins. When it comes down to very specific of subjective things on coins, such as extremely high grades or toning which may possibly be AT it is best to stay with NGC, PCGS, some people also say ANACS too. Remember though, buy the coin not the holder! Just because a holder says, MS69 for example, but it looks horrible and you don't like it pass or pay way less than MS-69 value.

    Just my Thoughts,

Definitely NOT market acceptable for PCGS or NGC. For a low-tier grading company, fine. Strange toning pattern to be natural....no progressiveness to the pattern, and no bleed-over to the reverse. AT as I see it.
