Possible 2015 Ultra High Relief coin

I like the fact that they're trying, as in going with new designs instead of old designs. I don't like the fact that it's painfully obvious not one artist is a sculptor by trade, meaning we'll have yet another flat, cartoon, computer sculpted design, again.

We need a "super like" button!

That's the biggest problem with all of these designs unfortunately. What looks nice drawn in black and white with gradient shadows just won't translate the same when sculpted instead of drawn.

I would have been very interested in obverse 12, but not the 2 they picked. Yuck

 

Zero interest in either of the obverses chosen. Pass.

 

Ughh. I may pass as well. I may put the money in the Marshalls 3 coin proof set instead of that junk.

 

I don't see an awful lot there which would cause me to make a purchase.

 

This might not be practical, but it would be cool if they settled on say 3 obverses and 3 reverses, built the dies and let the collectors order whichever combination they desired.

Like I said, it's not practical, but it would be fun.

The article says two panels will review. Is there any chance of the other designs getting selected?

These two are bad with no imagination.

 

It's possible - they've certainly done it in the past.

Mint should change the reverse of american eagle gold coin to one of those beautiful reverse designs listed here. But maintain the reverse of silver eagle.
