What else is out there? I'm looking for a cool animal like a tiger, lion, elephant, ect on older world coins. I really like this one but the price is too high for my interest. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=111187921089 Anyone know of anything else out there?
Ethiopian coins from the early 1900's are affordable and have a sweet lion on them. Cameroon has a fierce looking rooster. Many coins of the British empire feature lions.
Translation: Any animal on any "older" coin of the World. Somehow I was reminded of these two coins in my collection. Maybe they will initiate some ideas for you. This one is a 1913 5 mark design by Mr. Goetz & it is not the design that was adopted for use. At first glance, I originally saw the eagle as a griffin animal. This one is from ancient times minted in a place called Sikyon (quite near to Athens Greece). The animal is a Chimera (part lion, with an extra goat head, & snake tail).
A selection from the past: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-the-zoo.218986/ https://www.cointalk.com/threads/critter-coins.247946/ https://www.cointalk.com/threads/animal-coins.204587/ https://www.cointalk.com/threads/unusual-animal-coins.143829/ And you would certainly want to check out this custom set by @brg5658 to see how specialized a critter-coin collection can get: The BRG Collection: Horses
I don't know what you mean. I was just contributing to BigTee44's question in post #1. There was no reference intended to any other posts.
