I picked up a new addition today. It's been at the local shop a while, but I;ve been indecisive about, but broke down and got it I love how the lettering feels on the obv. Trajan Denarius. IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P, laureate bust right, draped far shoulder / COS V P P SPQR OPTIMO PRINC, Aequitas seated left holding cornucopiae & scales. Ref Trajan AR Denarius, RIC 119, RSC 86, BMC 288
I like all three, but I think I'm seeing double on the first . Actually, I like the newbie very much. Just look at that imposing portrait! One of my favs from my collection for the same reason: TRAJAN AR Denarius OBVERSE: IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P, laureate bust right with aegis REVERSE: SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI, Mars standing front with spear & shield Struck at Rome, 106-111 AD 3.2g, 18mm RIC 162, C 378
Wow, yummy => those are gorgeous coins, randygeki ... sadly, I don't have a Trajan denarius (*sigh* ... and I have crappy Gordian III's ... man, this is the worst night "ever")
