I found this beauty searching rolls yesterday. Too bad about the zinc rot over the WE. http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1982&die_id=1982p1do003&die_state=mds
Please post your question in an original thread. You'll get more responses that way and you won't be hijacking another thread.
No glue...lol. I don't think It's MD. Those are some amazing notches on the LIB upper left. There is a big notch on the NE tip of W in we and R in trust. I am obviously not an expert. Just a novice doing my best to learn the ropes. I am going to send it to Mr. Wexler when my current batch is returned. Then I'll know one way or the other.
Billy, please don't hijack anyone's thread. Make one for your coin instead tomfiggy, this has not be proven, and its only my opinion, but I believe 1982 was a year for master die doubling. I find cents like this one a lot, yet I haven't found any really good examples to post a comparison. What you are seeing is pretty much the original design, but that LIB in LIBERTY always has me guessing also. I have a -001 and -003 and I can tell you that your coin is not a ddo.
If anything, I think what you are seeing on the tips of the letters on the LIB is minor trails. If you take a look at some of the early 80s trail dies you'll see similar ones. http://www.traildies.com/1982p-1deo/ Like Clutchy said, your coin looks typical for 1982 LDs.
I would send it in haha I just found a ddo and ddr not knowing about the 1982 ddo and ddr let me know when you get it back
