If it’s completely random which way the coin is fed into the edge marking machine, there should be very close to equal amounts of position A’s & B’s. Much like 50,000 flips of a coin will produce very close to equal amounts of head & tails. With two outcomes, the larger the population, the more likely there will be close to equal amounts of both outcomes.

Not to offend the “classic only collectors”, but the more I look at these Native American Dollars (since 2009) the more I like them, much like Indian Cents and Buffalo Nickels.

You are right mr.statequarterguy. Position A & B number on Native American dollar will be close. I think for the Franklin roosevelt chronicles set. The position A and B where Franklin roosevelt dollar wii get it from already produced coins. That will create uneven results. That the pair of set for Franklin roosevelt might be much much less than 10,000.

I got my first 10 sets awhile back and have been selling 8 of them on eBay good money for them. I still have 5 on back order waiting to see if I ever get them.

I do not think those backordered will be ship. It's done. It's over.

That's so disappointing since I ordered on the 4th of December and they still sold and shipped many sets after that date.

Sour taste in my mouth to a relatively new 'mint' coin collector.

I don't think Anchor has any inside info to back up what he says...just a feeling and an opinion. Correct? As such, don't get down. No information just means "no information." I hope. I have 3 sets outstanding. My order fro 2 on 12/10 shipped the next day and my order for 3 from 12/11 is sitting in BACKORDER.

Next moves for this baby at ebay average should be around $80.00.

I emailed the Mint last night and expressed my disappointment in how this situation was handled as well as some of the other recent fiascoes that are quickly tainting their position as a numismatic firm with high integrity and good customer service.

There is NO reason why people who ordered on the 4th got sheisted while folks like you (no bad feelings your way, but definitely towards the mint) received many sets well after MY order was placed and set.

THAT is unacceptable and I will most certainly be eyeing how much money and effort I expend to the US Mint. And I am willing to go one further and repeat my mantra of a bad experience as long and hard as necessary until I feel satisfied over the situation. If they lose any business in the meantime, well then they need to address their business practices.

I hate to say this, but I am a young and VERY involved numismatist, I may be a small drop in the bucket to the mint, but over the course of the next 50 years I could be a buyer, and as time goes on, a larger and larger one at that. I dont think they realize how much things like this turn off folks like me, and I am what their future business depends on.

These fiascos are created by all you flippers buying 100's or 1000's at a time. Nobody cared about the set until they figured out you can make money off them.

The mint should strictly follow the rule of first come first serve. Specially on the limited household can order. That is why there is a order number attached. They just pick up any orders from the screen. Process them and ship it out. That is wrong.

Wrong person pal. I wanted 5 sets. One for our CT gift exchange, one for my clubs Christmas exchange, one for me, for my father, and one for my grandfather. I don't play the flipping game.

Here's the email response I received this morning. Pretty good response time US Mint, although I shouldn't have had to beg for info.

    "Dear Mr. McGovern,

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused.

The distribution center did experience an issue which caused a small portion of total orders for the American $1 Coin and Currency Set to ship prior to other orders which were placed on past days. All orders which were placed prior to this issue will still be allocated inventory and shipped when available. While this product is in high demand, there will be enough inventory available to ship all orders placed prior to the orders which have shipped. We apologize for the delay in getting you your order and appreciate you shopping with the United States Mint. Please be advised that at the moment this item is still on backorder and will ship once it become available.

For general information, you may contact us seven (7) days a week from 8:00 AM to 12:00 midnight Eastern Time. Hearing and speech impaired customers with TTY equipment can reach us Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time or by visiting us online at www.catalog.usmint.gov. Original Message Follows:

    ------------------------

    Greetings,

I would just like to convey my sincerest disappointment over how my order was handled most recently from the United States Mint. I placed and paid for 5 sets of Native American $1 Coin and Currency sets on December the 4th to give away as Christmas presents to members of my family and other interested parties (while keeping one set for myself).

As of January 16th, I have received ZERO communication, and ZERO coins. I have also observed where many parties have received coins well after I placed my order with the mint. I am appalled at that type of service in an industry such as this and it severely taints my perception of what I once considered a beacon of numismatic integrity. I am a relatively small buyer on the scale of volume that the Mint sells at, but I am sure there are many individuals who have observed the several hiccups the Mint has made over the last several years, just as I have, and who are equally disappointed.

I am a relatively young collector, and have only made purchases from the Mint over the last couple of years, but I do make purchases regularly, and anticipated doing so for many years to come up until this most recent incidence.

I would like to think that the holidays had something to do with the miscommunication and resulting slow service, and would like to see an amicable remedy provided to the current situation.

    Here is my order number:

    USM027

Any follow-up information will be much appreciated"

Actually my initial email is included at the bottom.

You must be looking at a different eBay than the rest of us. Most sets have been selling in the $40-$50 range on eBay and that has been the case for the last week or two. Sure there are a couple of outliers, but the vast majority are between $40-$50 per set (and the sellers realize less than that after paying their fees). There are several buy it now listings for sets under $50 right now... if you really think they are headed to $80 soon, you should be buying them all!

Mint is listening to our complaints. That is a good sign. Ordered dated 12/12 are still alive.

My 12/12 order of 5 is still in BACKORDER status as well. I check it every day.

I am just thrilled I got a somewhat decent response from them. I am still pissed over the whole thing, but provided I actually do receive my coins, I am sure that feeling will abate.

I just cant believe the logistics got screwed up where folks after me received coins before I did. Thats my biggest complaint now, the Mint has had almost 200 years to perfect this simple process of distribution.

I'm rooting for you Trey. I know it sucks, but let's just hope you ultimately get your sets.
