Last show I picked this up cheap because I like tiny coins. My understanding is that it is generally termed a "fanam". I also know that there are MANY different ones from different regions, periods, government and even different metals! So I do I go about determining what this one actually is? There is so little of the pattern showing I don't know where to start. The seller had it in a 2x2 labeled simply "India Fanam". I THINK it is silver rather than gold or copper/bronze. Size is 5.3 x 6 mm but I don't have the weight right now. (I have also arbitrarily labeled the obverse and reverse in the file names)

    Any help? Thanks!

Unfortunately, in this case, this Belgian dealer is known for his ridiculous high prices on common Indian coins. So better divide his prices by 5 for a normal market estimate.

Regrettably, I cannot help you with any information on your coin, but here is a 1/4 Fanam (Gold) that I purchased recently, alongside an 1883 Morgan Dollar. It is 2mm across and I believe it to be the smallest coin that I have seen.

For a moment I thought you had uploaded the wrong picture. Then I saw the tiny coin there.
