As part of the lot I purchased just as the year ended, I received these two coins of Sicily. Neither are particularly noteworthy, but I thought I would post them here anyways. When the cost of the lot is divided by the number of coins, these two coins set me back around $16 each.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find that Carthage bronze for $16 as a solitary lot. Nice!

Here's one I don't remember showing before, although maybe I did and forgot.

Sicily, Syracuse Æ Tetras. Second Democracy. Circa 425 BC. Female head right; XXX before / Hippocamp right, octopus below. CNS 30; SNG ANS 1382. 1.92g, 13mm, 10h; Very Fine; Rare. I'd like to get one in a higher grade. This is the seller's image, edited. I didn't like my images and never got around to reshooting it. Maybe tomorrow :)

wow, super-cool ... a hippocamp and an octopus on the reverse definitely elevates this baby to sweet-status (almost uber-cool!!)

    ;)

=> fantastic addition (you really are "all-that")

    Have a great night, Princess

Oh sure, sweet talk me now after throwing me over for @ancientnut. It's going to take more than that, sugarbritches. Better send chocolate. Or a chocolate-colored coin :D

    :panda:

yah, I know ... that line never works, eh?

=> oh but ummm, perhaps we could aim at a wee bit of make-up coining?

Nice, coins from Sicily are pretty cool to have. Ones in nice condition are usually pretty pricey too.
