Has anyone ever seen ANACS run specials on gold like they do other denominations? Their price is pretty cheap anyways and want to get mine verified. If they verified ok, I would crack them and send to PCGS. I have 12 total I need certified.

Why waste the money on ANACS? Go ahead and send them to NGC or PCGS. I don't think it makes any difference if they graded as a problem coin or problem-free, as long as they are authentic, I think being slabbed is the most important thing. Raw coins, gold or silver, almost never command the better prices.

Ok, I guess I meant to say I needed them authenticated. 3 are suspect out of the bunch. If I can get ANACS to authenticate them cheaply, then I will crack out and send to PCGS for grading.

When you "Crack them out" have they already been slabbed by a major TPG? Or are you just cracking them out of a 2X2?

Makes no sense to pay for 2 gradings. Just send the to PCGS.

They are raw now. Send them to ANACS to be verified as authentic and slabbed. Then crack them out and send to PCGS. Scrap the counterfeit ones.

This is why I was wondering if ANACS runs gold specials. I pay a small fee to get them authenticated. If several come back unverifiable, I didn't lose much money. If I send them all to PCGS up front and several come back counterfeit, that's a bigger hit. Maybe I should just send the suspect ones to ANACS.

ANAC's runs different specials at different times. If you sign up with them, you become an "Insider" and receive email notifications of any specials they are running. I took advantage about six months ago of their "Any Coin' Special which included gold coins as long as they were not valued at over $500.00 (your valuation). Otherwise you would have to specify a specific tier and you can submit anyways.

Post pics here. Some of us are decent enough with gold to weed out some bad ones.

I did early last year. The 1898 $20 several said was counterfeit. The others I couldn't get a good enough pic for people to tell. All i have is my cell phone. They were $1 and $5 denominations.

Well you just missed free grading of two coins (pay shipping only). I sent in a $1 gold coin. This was talked about here and the offer originated in the "Insider" list previously mentioned.
