Too bad it isn't MS60!

Here's a cool Morgan I picked up at the FUN show for $155. One of those coins that is semi key until you get up to MS60... conditional rarity. Looks very choice for a 53 to me. The reverse hit on the leaves at about 8 o'clock on the reverse is the only thing keeping it from a 55 in my opinion. What do you think?

Very nice for a 53, maybe bag marks and slightly weak hair on obverse are keeping it from 58. Overall nice coin - nice price!

Dang close to a 60 in my opinion . Hits aren't supposed to lower a grade below MS as it's all about wear in the lower grades . Large hits could detail a coin but that's it . Remember the tpgs don't so much grade coins as they do price them . Maybe they thought the slight hair lining and hits lowered the value and thus gave it that grade . I wish they'd just grade the coins and let the market decide . Nice coin that would fit in a MS collection .

I'm not a fan of Morgans and don't what the better dates are so the date doesn't mean anything to me. And I don't really care for the toning. However, what I like and don't like doesn't matter.
So as long as you are happy with it then congratulations on adding a coin to your collection that you will enjoy :)

Now I like the toning better than a blast white coin . Oranges and apples I guess .;)

Another WOW moment! My parents are in their 90's and my 92 year old Dad got me interested in coin collecting when I was 12 (figure out the math) - "don't worry about it??" - I never will again - have a nice day!!!
