Does anyone know if the 1973S Lincoln cents were prone to filled mint marks or possibly prone to RPM's? I have a B.U. Roll that exhibit something similar to both. No pics yet, just this query.
They are definitely not known for RPMs. I'm not sure what it could be. If you are searching a BU roll, keep an eye out for nice coins. Even an MS66 is hard to come by for 1973S cents and would be a valuable coin.
Can't say I've seen early seventies, now I seen a lot of filled Ds on 60s LMCs. Would love to see what you have.
If this is any help.... I've been searching and saving memorial S mints for two years. In my 73-S tube, I have 16 coins. 2 are normal, with your typical bump inside the lower section, within the serif. 12 have a die chip in the lower section 2 are completely filled in the lower section. In 1979, they had a lot of dies punched with a broken Denver punch, creating the illusion of a RPM on the bottom serif. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case here also.
This problem is within the lower section, so I could be looking at die chips and thanks for looking for these. Got the scope today but might be a couple more days as I have a lot of cleaning and update, defrag, etc. to do in addition to the house cleaning but I will be back with photos for sure. It's the only B.U. roll I have of these so I set them aside temporarily before I 2X2'd them.
