Toner Ike- the most difficult coin I've ever tried to photograph, and I finally got it.

I had to borrow a friend's DSLR and 100mm macro lens, but I finally got the toning to show up right on this Ike. I've spent a lot of time trying- the toning is light pastel, and I either had to shoot the coin too dark or couldn't catch it at all with my point-and-shoot. I can probably still do better, but for now, this is a win!

Have you ever tried using axial lighting? I don't know of too many people who mention it any more.

I normally use axial, but just couldn't get this one to look right for some reason.

Interesting! I guess Ike is just plain opposed to anything that begins with "axi".
