Who from CT will be at the Waldorf Astoria? I know that some CT folks like to keep their travel (and identity) private so you can either post here or send me a PM. We can share cell phone numbers & make plans to meet on the bourse floor. I'll probably be at the show all day on Friday January 9th. We have been toying with the idea of staying at the Waldorf Astoria and maybe attend on the 10th. Anyone else? Last year a few of us touched base in the morning & then we had fun throughout the day running into each other & discussing what's-what. Here is the bourse floor schedule: Thursday, January 8 12Noon - 7PM (Professional Preview - $125 Registration) Friday, January 9 10AM-7PM Saturday, January 10 10AM-7PM Sunday, January 11 10AM-3PM This is the show website: http://nyinc.info/index.php
Once again the cosmic powers of fate have conspired to keep me away from this show. I just dropped $1000 to refit the entire cooling system in my car: radiator, hoses, pump. thermostat, belts. There went my coin money.
Sadly C89, on January 8th I will be in Flin Flon Manitoba (home of Bobby Clarke), on a work-trip visit to the 777 Mine ... ... otherwise, I would have been riding shotgun with you and Noob!!
I should have gone there instead of FUN, but you know what? I am in Minnesota and there is no stinking way I am going to NYC in Jan when I can go to Florida instead. I miss the days when NYINC was in early December. I think they should have it in Nov instead of Jan, maybe I would start going again.
I would love to go just to meet you and Noob, we have the Boeing coin show the next weekend. can't wait to see your new pickups...
Oh, I would LOVE to be able to go and meet all of you at NYINC. I believe Anoob and I in particular would have a blast talking about our weird little collections. Maybe in a year or two, but with the chance to go to Orlando with my two sons and Disney World appeared, I just didn't have much of a chance.
I'm beginning to see the picture here. Hey honey, let's take the kids to FUN, ah...ahem, I mean Disney World, yeah, Disney World - that's the ticket.
One of the fun parts of being retired is not having to go places when common sense says not to. To me, this includes anywhere north of the Mason Dixon line in winter. I have been to NYC. Done that. I was too cheap to buy the T shirt. A question: Not counting coins, which costs more: the trip, hotel, parking, food etc. or JA's cooling system? I'll settle for Baltimore (March 28) and then only if the local club takes a bus load of us. I would not know how to act in a place with fifty ancient dealers.
You dang right I used my kids to justify getting out of this -9 this morning state in January and be able to go to a coin show, er, Disney World, yeah, we are going to Disney World, that's it. It just happens to be when FUN is going on too.
I could afford the train to NY from Philly, bring along a bag lunch, and return the same day rather than stay at the hotel. What I wouldn't be able to afford is the mental anguish of going to a coin show with no money. If all I wanted to do was just look at coins, I'd...well, I'd be richer for one thing, lol.
Ummmm, so obviously nobody is gonna be at the Flin Flon coin-convention? (at the newly renovated Slap-Shot Motel) ... fair-weather-coin-friends (man, that's weak, brothers!!)
I'd love to go to either, but my wife will be having major surgery on the 6th and the 8th. No trips for me just yet. I would give my left, um, pinky finger nail clipping to go to the Flin Flon and stay at the Slap-Shot. Really, though, everyone have fun and don't break the banks in the first month of the new year.
We visited NY by boat this summer. There were no NY City expenses unless we tied-up at a marina (which I suspect would have cost the same as JA's cooling system). This photo is from our boat (not of our boat). Very good point.
*whateva* It's your fricken loss, fellas ... sure, you can blow your cash in the good ol' USA ... => but the green fees in Flin Flon are very, very inexpensive this time o' year!!
Hey, don't laugh, Eng => my friend Wes and I have an annual snow-golf tourney!! (hey, ya gotta find fun somehow, right?) Note ... ummm, I've quit smoking since this photo was taken
Glad you quit smoking, you'll be around here alot longer, do you trip your friend Wes, when a polar bear comes after you.
I'd love to go to NYINC but the cost of getting there and staying there would equal a one or two higher end coins. I hope you have a blast. Post lots of pictures!
