Plan to buy some mint set which I never have before. how do you grade those current years mint set from 2005 to present. Are those coins:

    1. Grade between ms 62 to ms 64
    2. Grade between ms 65 to ms 67
3 Grade the same with those kennedy clad 2 coin set at around ms 66 to ms 69
    4. Grade the same with those american eagle burnish unc at around ms 68 to ms 70

Anyone with experience who owned these sets and always grade them by the professional or by himself. Please tell me and thanks.

P.s. Maybe we should separate it from satin finished & brilliant uncirculated. So in this case two types.

I only buy the silver proof sets and some ASE's, but my experience with my purchases are 68 - 70 grade coins.

jpcienkus has expressed my exact routine and suggested grades. It sounds like you may be going back in years to pick up some older sets. Whatever coin is the weakest grade of the entire silver proof set, is the set's grade. Unless you plan to break the set up for a specific coin or reason, look for cracks in the plastic case as well. The coins may tarnish quicker because of air leakage.

Your questions are not very clear. Uncirculated Mint Sets are not graded as a whole. Each coin is graded separately. From my experience, the individual grades will range anywhere from MS64-MS68. Rarely will you find an MS69 or MS70.
