A cent from that year should weigh 3.11 grams. Until you post better pictures I remain the skeptic...........
Explain what the difference between this penny weighing 1.9 g as to a regular penny weighing 3.11 g other then the weight difference. Whats the significance of this.
I have no idea. Too heavy for aluminum. The aluminum should weigh 0.937g. It's also way too light for copper. Copper, like stated above, should weigh 3.11g.
The difference is that you may have something of significance, but barring better photos, you lend nothing to contribute to the legitimacy of what you're posting........
What are my chances , i'm getting an appraisal tomorrow. And i'm running through situations right now as my heart is jumping. If it was zinc , i didn't find any articles of a zinc 1973 penny and or valued worth statements. I found few but still some of the aluminum , stating that if this is actually legit , could it be confiscated during my appraisal. What could my total worth of this be.
It's thickness is the same , i'm very very skeptical on if its plated or not . Why would this penny be plated? What's the story behind it if it was.
Lots of coins get aged for various reasons; for fun, jewelry, science experiments etc. but the weight just doesn't make sense.
Either the weight was wrong, or it's non of the above. It's a gram too heavy for aluminum, 1.2 grams too light for copper, 0.8 gram light for steel, it's even too light for dime stock. It's awful shiny looking too. Looks plated, but what's underneath? Can't be copper. It's even 0.6 grams light for zinc.
I keep reading articles about experiments , stuff that has happened to pennies to make them this color. The more i examine the more i realize they aren't like mine. The other pennies are more darker and worn , mine is a very bright silver or whatever color , and it has no build up , weighs 1.9 g , same size height width thickness as any other penny. What could this be?!
