I haven't posted here much since 2012, but let's change that today. Hopefully I didn't miss too much in my absence. I already see some old friends are still very active here.

So for my first post in some time, I thought I'd share this lovely Capped Bust half I just acquired. How would you grade the coin? It is going to PCGS tomorrow on a 5-Day Express submission.

Not to hard to grade this one, Brian. Has a few light scratches, probably not from cleaning. It's AU. I'd give it a 55.

I say AU 55, not sure on the surfaces, they seem pretty original.

Great year by the way, makes me think of the war of 1812 and Andrew Jackson. This coin was circulating during that time. Hell of a handfull of history ya got there.

It's a toss up for me... Might go 55, might go details, might net grade to a 50.

I'm going au-53. Could detail due to the scratches had one do the same for me a year ago. Similar looking great flow lines a few scratches they called it au details cleaning

Something is going on in the field in front of the face.

Looks like something [possible scratch] was removed

I would put it AU-53. I see what Frank is talking about - so assuming no scratches. Good luck hope you get a good grade on it.

Nice variety coin with some nice luster, however with the wear on high points. Plus the scratches I would say Xf45/Au 50 details. Of which none of the above would stop me from pulling the trigger on this one. Still a lot of meat and eye appeal .

Frank might be on to something... It is possible that it has been repaired out in the obverse left field. Hard to say without it in hand but there is definitely something going on there...

I think PCGS is pretty strict with bust halves so I'd say either AU details or AU50.
