Coin Displays

Okay...so I got this new Lindner Nimbus frame for Christmas....makes the coins look suspended, really cool. Here is my 50th Anniversary Kennedy Silver Set in the frame. What do you think and how do you display your coins?

Those displays are neat. The first time I saw one was with a coin I got from the Perth mint.

Yeah...I have several in that storage method as well bdunnse. But some coins are too cool and I have a display so I can see them on a regular basis. Or in a set binder of some type (dansco, 3 ring pages, etc.). But a drawer in my house looks like your box...that's for sure. Thanks for the post

 

Danscos are how I view my favorite coins - I have 15 different albums filled to varying degrees! Cheers!

 

For my world base metal coins, I put them in simple academic looking folders that hold those plastic pages for 2x2s. I have nicer coin album books that hold 2x2s for my silver world coins and US too. I have so many folders, boxes, and loose coins hanging around it drives my wife nuts

 

My wife is always on me to reduce....cant seem to get myself to sell much though

 

All my coins are in SDB. I take photos and view them virtually.

 

I've had custom holders made, use Dansco and also the Eagle system so I may try the Lindner Nimbus frame

 

That's a cool display case, first one I've seen. Those Kennedys look good in it.

 

I have all my 50 dollar plus coins in a SDB. But I have all these folders of 1-10 dollar coins or cheaper. I gotta have coins to look at close and feel everyday, even if they are in holders.

 

Actually, this is for my eyes only. Not one neighbor, relative nor any of my personal friends know I collect. My wife, son and daughter are the exception. I never discuss worth. The inventory sheets, gold and my better pieces are in a S.D.B. - I do change the display every 6 to 8 months for variety.

Wow... That is an awesome display... I wish I had the room to do something like that. I don't collect any paper so it is fun to see how you lined the walls. With something that impressive and visible how do you keep your hobby quiet from visitors... Have a secret room in the house... Your numismatic bat cave?

 

Just about. If I have workmen in the house, I have a cover that goes on and it completely hides the cases. Once covered, I have been known to put out a ladder, paint can and brush and cover my computer to give an appearance of work being done.

 

They are old CD cases. I took out the dividers, (That's the little holes you see on the sides.) installed the lighting (12 volt) and had the glass shelves made at an Ace Hardware. The little pegs for the paper currency and shelfs are the head of aluminum nails or finishing nails with a nylon sleeve around them, also bought at Ace Hardware. My son didn't want the cases and was going to throw them out.
