I'm currently going through a Loomis bank box of B.U. 2011D cents. What I am finding on nearly every coin is a hairline die crack on the top left shield and die cracks at the forehead and in the hair which are more prominent than the shield and an occasional die crack at the O in One. Has anyone else been working/worked on these and what have you been finding, if anything at all?
I haven't seen much at all from the D models. Those die cracks on Shields seem prevalent from all mints though.
I have had better luck with the 2010P die cracks on the shield which also yield a die chip in the same area. The P's stand out better than the D's.
sir have you been to Mr Wrexlers site? I believe he has list of examples you may speaking of, by year with pictures-Wexlers coins and die Varieties-I am sure you have
I use Mr. Wexler's site extensively. In fact my girlfriend purchased his 1958 Lincoln Cent RPM book for me for Christmas as I am branching out into these specific coins.
OT: Yup, the shields are notorious for cracks in those areas. Once and awhile Ill find a nice crack, off the rim, at about the 5 o'clock position on the reverse, otherwise it's groundhog day for me with shields. All though, I did find a few DDO's, so I really shouldn't be complaining lol
I gave up looking for any Denver shield cents. There are no listings for any doubled dies for ANY 2010D through 2014D Lincoln cents. I have found 7 2009D WDDO-001 cents (they seem pretty common to me).
