Secret Santa 2014

Okay I only lasted 20 minutes from last post. Below is the beautiful star note I received from my not so Sectet Santa. It's the lowest serial number I own and also the best condition. I also enjoyed the hand written note and information about the bill. I have always been interested and have kept all the stars that I find at work and filter thru them to find the low print runs. This one is basically the standard for my collection now. Also recently moving to the DFW area, I love it's from Fort Worth. Thank you so much and I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

In what has sort of become the tradition now since I first participated back when Caz started this thing; I let my children open and have the gift for their collections. Thank you very much Santa the kids loved the gift, especially all the chocolates! Merry Christmas everyone.

I really wanted to wait until tomorrow. But I have to work and the family will be holding everything off until I get home. That and I really wanted to see what treasures I would get from across the ocean. I was not disappointed. Santa knew I like to collect Euro sets and he found some very nice examples.

A 2014 Netherlands Euro set with the new King. Beatrix has been around too long anyway.



Finally a 2011 Great Britain 50 Pence which explains what off-sides means in soccer. Something I always wanted to know.


Also enclosed was a beautiful card.

This is what my secret Santa sent me, and it's why I love these exchanges. This is something I would have not been exposed to, but I'm so thankful that now I have been. It's such an amazing design that now I want to complete the series. I'm also a military buff, so it goes right along with that. I can't thank my Santa enough for sending this and inspiring in me a new numismatic interest.

 

Well, we have the tradition in our house of opening one gift on Christmas Eve so of course I chose to open my Secret Santa gift. My Santa was very generous!!!

I'll have pictures hopefully tomorrow, but for now I'll pass along that I got an 1870 3 cent nickel, 1853 3 cent nickel, a US 2 cent piece (can't make out the date), a beautifully toned 1961 Lincoln cent (that'll challenge my skills at photographing toning), and finally an 1898 Morgan silver dollar.

Merry Christmas to everybody, and a big shout out to all the Secret Santa's that went above and beyond in the spirit of giving. I hope everyone received something of interest, especially the younger collectors.

 

Santa sent me a couple rolls to search. I'll be going through them later to see what we got. Thanks Santa!

Still patiently waiting for my gift. Maybe I was bad this year!

 

A quick look showed a couple IH's in the cent roll but they weren't on the end.

 

Well it was hard, but I was able to wait it out until this morning to open my Secret Santa gift. Inside the shipping box along with a card, was a package wrapped in some cool paper.



Inside was a group of awesome copper rounds. I have always thought these were cool, and have been meaning to get some. Thank you very much Secret Santa!







There were also a couple of other rounds in the package as well. One a Bullion not Bits, and a Snowman to keep the rest of the pieces in the holiday spirit for the trip. Thank you and Merry Christmas

 

I feel bad about not including a card. This was my first year and had a learning curve.

My secret Santa really did some homework and sent some coins that I really enjoy. He also sent a paper note. I don't have any Netherlands paper and was very excited to see it along with a nice note.

I was super happy with the presents and it really made my day! Can't believe I made it to Christmas before opening.
