    A pretty crude casting, although some shockingly fine detail was executed in some areas of the star and shield.

    If this was a genuine 1863 3CS it would have to show 3 Lines around the perimeter the Star--the photo is not sharp enough (on purpose?) to judge if that detail is present.

    Nope the three line was the type II 1854 - 1858 (Star and two outlines)

    The 1859 - 1873 has the star and one outline around it.
