Ok, my previous thread got 'banned' by the moderator. So I'm gonna rephrase my questions carefully here:

Where do you sell your clad and precious metal coin collection? Mind sharing experience and contact details for online dealers?

Ebay is out of the question. I am also thinking of posting them on cointalk -but I prefer someone or a dealer who can take them all - instead of individually. Hence, I'm posting this thread ;-)

People try to sell things in the "For Sale" section of CoinTalk. We've had a few disgruntled sellers complaining that nothing sells. Like anything else, if you have something no one here wants, or at a price no one here wants to pay, you will still have it at the end of the day.

Click "Directory" under banner, for dealers and some reviews.

Thanks for the info - but without intent to diminish your help, there's not much details but name and city :-(

If you don't want to do ebay, or here, go to your local dealer. I guarantee you will do better on ebay or here though. Why are you opposed to ebay?

I have a massive (ok, exaggerating ;-) a bit here) number of coins to get rid as I'm moving to another country - so too lazy to list or ship individual coin

You've given essentially no information for others to use in order to direct you to the best sources. You also apparently do not or can not want to take the time and effort to maximize the sales. This puts everyone in a type of no-man's land as far as help.

You'll have to get dressed, buy flowers, buy chocolates and get to first base on your own.;)

We need more details. What are you selling? Are the coins raw or certified?

I also have a few boxes of extra coins I need to organize and sell. Do I want to list these individually or take a hundred pics? Nope. But that's what I'm going to have to do unless I practically give them away on CT or CL.

I can't - the moderator is gonna ban my post if I include the details here - anyway, I have both raw and graded coins - I think I'm gonna post them on the 'to sell' forum soon

If you want to sell them as one lot then list them that way.

The moderators would be upset if you tried to turn this into a sales thread. If you simply said that you had XYZ and were looking for the best avenue for liquidation and sought advice, I think it would be viewed differently. Hopefully one of them will correct me if I am wrong.

Ian Russel at Great Collections (GC) offers reduced rates on grading raw coins, HE pays for the shipping to the TPGs, and offers the lowest commissions of any major auction house that Im aware of. He, or one of his staff looks at EVERY coin submitted and will offer feedback if you ask him to.

It has been my experience that for most common coins valued at less than $3,000 you would need to allot about $50 each for the cost of shipping/insurance, grading, listing, and commission; after adding the $50 to your original cost for the coin you can then determine from GCs Auction Archive the sales history of that coin Type/Date/MM and whether or not your presumed grade would yield a similar sales price. If your total investment in that coin (all costs, as above) is at least 30% under the Auction averages, then you stand a good chance of getting more than your total investment for it. Otherwise, I would agree with the other comments about selling them on eBay as a single Lot or grouped into multiple Lots by types.

As the OP stated, as per forum rules, he cannot specifically list what he is trying to sell. For if he does then this thread for obvious reasons becomes a BST thread. And that is not permitted in the regular forum sections.

It looks like I stand corrected, although it doesn't make sense to me if you are asking about venues and not creating a sales thread. In any event, feel free to PM and I will try to help. I wish you luck in liquidating your holdings.

Apmex is a good buyer, also it wouldn't hurt to check around in Coin World ads or Numismatic News, etc. for offers on what you have.
