And the special $5 off standard shipping expires today as well, 12/16.

Folks have been buying these in OGP on eBay for well above retail during the time they were not available.

Let us know what quality of coins you get, testing that old fear of cherrypicked pieces going out this late in the game.

I know it's a crap shoot on this one Chris, but I know what I'm getting into. Worst case scenario is I send one back and keep one for a pocket piece......

Who cares what quality you get if you can flip them for a profit

Yeah, true. Maybe I'll hold off on turning one into a pocket piece......:)

Well, the Mint profits first and foremost off consumers (collectors) who think they are going to flip for easy profits, or exploiting less informed or overly eager buyers in online auction venues.

I may again and have in the past resold Mint products but if I get inferior products from the Mint I don't exploit buyers, I ship them back to the Mint. Whether or not the Mint sends out their sloppy seconds or not remains to be proven. They don't catch many scratched and milk spot stained coins, and that level of QC is not part of the Mint's MO neither.

Assuming you can resell some coins for a premium to aftermarket buyers who are more informed, they may well return the coins to you or avoid bidding on them entirely leaving you holding the bag if they detect such quality or motives to profit.

I think the shape of the coins would make them a tad uncomfortable in one's pocket.

Now I really want to see this. I didn't buy any of the convex (concave?) HoF coins but may do so just to see what they would look like after circulating alongside other coins. Maybe in 10 years I will submit it for grading and see if I can nab the lowest graded example.

Must have already expired. I went on line to order and they put a charge for shipping.

The budget shipping is $4.95 and the standard option is like $12.95. It should come up less $5 per the offer on standard shipping, I believe.

I think the UNC looks so much better than the proof on this one.

Some people like one over the other.

Some people feel compelled or desire to collect one of everything.

Then there is the "if you mint it, they will come" idea...;)

Maybe so, but doesen't the value of proofs normally out pace the uncirulated coins ?

I was very unimpressed with all of the clad and silver options when I saw them and glad I cancelled the gold before they arrived. When I finally saw the gold and the scale of the coin, I was reassured for having taken that approach.

The only thing I'm bummed about is having cancelled my free tote bags... (JK!)

Other way around. In this series, the unc gold sold less units. Recent years unc W AGE have also been coming in at key and semi key date mintages. Uncs are often of lower mintage and I feel often hold stronger value over time, better ROI. IMHO.
