I've mentioned before that I've been accumulating a "pocket collection" - some late 19th and early twentieth century coins that I just carry around loose in my pocket. Yeah, a lttle bit eccentric, but so what? I still have a few more I want to add, but it's coming along: See the IHC's there? They are from a lot of four I bought on eBay for a ridiculous $8.00 (with shipping). It would cost me $4 or more in gas to drive to a coin shop where I could get them cheaper, so that was fine. But you'll notice that I only put three in my pocket. Why? I just couldn't do it to this one: Yeah, there's some very light rim damage, but sheesh: I'm sure there's a YN somewhere who would love this. So I'm thinking maybe I'll run a contest on my blog to give it away, but I have a question for the assembled multitude: I'm thinking of certifying it first. Yes, yes, I know the coin is not worth certifying. However, I thought it would be that much nicer for the YN. It's not going to kill me to do it and I think it would be nice? Opinions? And second question: other than honor system, how would you suggest that I phrase this so that it does ultimately go to a YN? I don't mind anyone entering if they intend to pass it to someone they know, but if there is some clever way to ensure that.. Ideas?
I have an 1884 Morgan key fob that kicks around with my keys - anything loose I would be afraid of dropping or spending by mistake.
