Where in the heck do you find all these Eastern minted coins? I mean, I look, but rarely find any. BTW, nice coin.
I spend hours scouring for them. This one would pass many by unless they recognise the obverse die. I paid twice what I would expect to pay for a normal COS II example so someone else spotted it too but I guess I was more determined.
The question arises just how much we should pay for an ordinary COS II coin compared to a Rome of equal condition and compared to a 'special' like the one here under discussion. I have paid 10x for certain specials but usually do not buy an ordinary COS II at any price unless I recognize it as in some way special to me if to no one else (for example the one I have with 6 different reverses would be special if #7 turns up but probably not to most people since it is not a particularly well done die and spells things normally). There was a time I bought any Eastern coin that came my way. No more.
