I'm in the VF-35 camp.

 

Looks to be about a 40 to me also....

 

So far only one person has nailed it dead on.

 

So it was VF30? I went off of the photograde from PCGS and it's a good match for their 35.

 

Yep. This coin is in a VF 30 holder... Probably not going to regrade it... But it will be going to CAC.

 

Well, it was conservative in my opinion, but PCGS is, in MY opinion, the most conservative of the graders. Nice coin anyhow.

 

Does that mean you're expecting a gold bean?

 

Expecting? No... Not really. It would be nice... But I think it's got a great shot at a regular bean.

It sure seems to have a lot more detail than a VF-30 like this one.

Yeah, I wonder if there's a bit of silent net grading involved.

The grade has already been given out, so I will just state that I don't like the feel of the surfaces.

 

I'm with you Tom looks flat and lifeless perhaps overdipped. A rare date but not the eye appeal and original color I love

 

The face looks rough, possibly pitted.

But, now I know I was seeing things.

I think what you are seeing is an artifact of the photography and compression techniques.

 

I was in the 35-40 camp, based on the amount of wear. Maybe something else holding it back: very dark color, some abrasions we can't see well in the photos?
