1961 half dollar and 1928 quarter. I got the standing Liberty for $5 and the Franklin for $10, which, according to ebay, are reasonable prices. I might have gotten a deal on the half. They obviously haven't been graded, but what would you estimate their grades to be? The Franklin looks to be BU to my untrained eyes while the standing Liberty appears to be in F condition. How far am I off? Did I get decent deals? I like them and I don't think I paid too much for them but it's always nice to get a good deal.
I'll post it with this one my favorite acquisition of the year 2 of the best examples of album toning I own
Added four halves to the hoard this past week. This is the first capped bust half I've ever owned. Gotta say I really like it. The lettered edge is really cool. Got it for my type set that I started recently. Color is more gray in hand and a little darker. The seller had it labeled as an O-112. Can anyone confirm this? Added three Franklins. One graded, two raw. Here's the graded. A PCGS MS 64 FBL. I generally like to stay at or above MS 65 when I buy graded Franklins, but for this one I made an exception. I liked the subtle rainbow on the reverse and it's tough to find a decent 52 D in 64 and very hard to find one at the 65 level. At 66 good luck. Image credit on this one goes to kryptonitecomics. And here are the two raw ones. A 54 D and a 59 P. These two complete their respective dates in my raw collection. I now have at least one of each 54 P, D, and S and at least one 59 P and D.
Nice bust half!! Looks like an xf 45. I'll look in the morning as my books are downstairs and I just went up and don't feel like going to get my half dollar book
Those were the seller's pictures. Here are some I just took real quick that look a little bit better.
Btw. Those Colombian halves are graded 58 and 62. I can't really tell all that much difference in them myself.
I'm a little behind in posting and just took some pics of my latest pickups. Here's a better pic of the 1833 B1 capped bust quarter (only had seller pics before). 1834 B3 capped bust quarter 1834 B4 capped bust quarter 1835 B2 capped bust quarter (reverse die from the 1834 King of Siam presentation set). 1837 B3 capped bust quarter. This die marriage is an R4. 1892 Barber quarter. Messed up the lighting on the obverse and the pic doesn't do it justice at all. It's stunning in hand with great rim toning. Really liked the toning on this 1932 Washington quarter. Upgrade for my Dansco.
