A nice way to ingratiate yourself to the boards as a new member: insult an existing members collecting preferences!

    Welcome to CT.

Any early type coins with good original skin especially with attractive toning. Morgans especially better dates ccs and high grades and of course monster toners are always hot. I see better grade barber stuff selling well. 20 cents are always popular. Seated dollars seem to finally be getting a bit of appreciation Well struck and original SLQ are selling well And of course my real loves trade dollars and draped bust coins with their original skin. Always tough to find and hard to buy.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

It is definitely a smaller segment of the market (and you won't hear too many people talking about them), but prooflike coins are HOT right now, and were even more so earlier in the year. Auction prices for prooflike type were going crazy.

I have seen a price escalation of Morgan CC dollars in mid range MS condition. The GSAs especially, if nice specimens always hold their value and command interest.

Looks like the enhanced NA dollar in the coins and currency set may turn into one of the 2014 hot ones...

There are awesome fellow coin collectors on this board and some real pricks. I've asked questions about some of my coins and got enlightening answers, and I've had forum members insult my coins when I didn't even ask for opinions. The majority of the posters, however, are cool.

Reality is I don't care for franklins or kennedys. I've seen some posted with amazing color tho. Just cause Im not into them doesn't mean there not worth collecting is just a matter of opinion there's no right or wrong way to it. But you shouldn't put anyone's choices down. Me as far as halfs like the flowing hair through seated ones!

As I noted in an earlier post, I didn't really like the Franklins until I held one in my hand. I was working one night at the convenience store when a customer spent a couple of nicely patinaed Frankins. I've loved them ever since.

Was just trying to say about not putting people down for what they collect is all. Me I prefer coins with a 17 or 18 for the first 2 digits in the date. Walkers and slq are real pretty coins tho.

I don't collect the Frankies or Kennedy's. I have a couple of each, but it's just my cup of tea; however, that doesn't mean my preference is the only one.

I don't particularly like Ike's either, but I have a full set of MS and PF silver Ike's. I bought them in the hope they become popular in the future.

WOW! I guess some folks can’t take a comment made in jest.

As far as collecting “hairy heads” (Kennedy half dollars), I’ve been known to buy one or two over the years and have enjoyed collecting them with my son. We have even given away a few Kennedy half dollars over the years to YN’s starting out (some on these message boards and some on other message boards).

A few of the sets we have are linked below, trying to find affordable upgrades for the first set linked has been difficult at best and that is the reason for spreading out into the next two sets listed:

Well, it's kinda hard to sense tone over the internet. However, a smilie can make all the difference.

Oddly, I was looking at bullion ATB pucks this morning. Many are certified often with the "first strike" designation. I own all of these beautiful 76mm diameter beauties sold directly from the US Mint.

The bullion pieces are even more expensive than the Mint products. The bullion certified pieces are selling at 2-1/2 to 3 times the value of the silver, just for starters. I looked at one eBay offering of all 25 bullion version coins issued so far, all certified for $25000+.

I would say these coins are a hot item.

That question is probably worthy of another thread, but I'll answer here anyways:

Original, problem free, attractive, somewhat scarce coins.

    But those are always hot.
